Grevillea Lavendulacea







I am just amazed at the beauty of some of our Australian native plants when I really have a close look at them. This is another, much smaller grevillea which we have planted in our garden.

 Grevillea lavendulacea usually has pink or red flowers, sometimes white. Our particular one is a pinky-red. Each flower piece is only an inch or 2.5cm long. Thankfully it is a hardy plant, flowering in winter and spring, growing to a height of around one yard/metre.

 I took these photos late in the afternoon, holding a piece of black cardboard to help highlight the delicate beauty of these stunning flowers.

    Grevillea - a complete unknown to me. I shall have to look for them under houseplants maybe?

    Joco, it's an Australian native, a bush/mallee plant.

    Since I started photo blogging, I am discovering just how beautiful so much of what I am see in nature is...from the plants, to the buildings, to the animals. It has been a fabulous learning experience. I have never seen this particular flower, but the boom is out of this word. Genie

    Oh, such beautiful flowers...I love all pink and white ones! And, the tip about black paper behind to really capture the blossoms is one I will probably try with my cheapy digital camera!
