A little bit of sunshine to brighten the day! This rather small gazania opened this morning, shining brilliant yellow in our garden.

"Promise" Fulfilled

Early this morning a beautiful rose bud was starting to unfold. A few hours and spring showers later.....

Quite different to our house, some painting work in progress, filled with plaster dust and paint sanding, drop cloths and temporary disarray. Thankfully our living areas are showing promise also, just of a slower kind.

Still Fruitful

Monday I shared some of the beautiful flowers I found in our neighbour's yard. Although we live in town there is thankfully room for a few fruit trees. P and L have a couple of lovely mature orange trees and as you can see they are now covered with sweet blossoms as well as some of last winter's fruit.

Below are a couple of photos I posted early June, the day P and L gifted us with some of the delicious fresh fruit from their trees.

We do have an orange tree which we planted a couple of years ago. It has just grown it's first handful of flowers. Maybe in a few years we'll have oranges to share with neighbours too.

Very Pretty

Come and enjoy some of the delights I found in another neighbour's garden. With an open invitation I gratefully explored their yard with my camera.

 A special highlight was this beautiful Australian native "bush" orchid. Each tiny flower is only about 1/2" or 1cm across, about the same size as the creamy bush orchid flowers I showed last week which another neighbour grows. They are so delicate and pretty. This time I've included photo which shows the plant structure more clearly.

This last flower is a purple petrea (thank you Eva), it grows on a strong vine/bush. It appears to be two flowers in one with the smaller flower opening out of the centre of the long-petalled flower - quite fascinating.

I'm very grateful for wonderful neighbours on all sides. Thank you L and P for your kind invitation - there will be more delights to share another time.

Wet and Wonderful

Yesterday's rose

"Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!

Last night, early this morning and again this evening we hear the sounds of thunder and gentle rain. Spring storms are bringing their welcome rain (with no damage so far). Even the kangaroos at church were wet through.

Today's sunset shows amazing clouds, balanced with "wonderful perfection and skill". 

I don't know what tomorrow will bring but I know who holds it, and that's enough.

Front Yard Surprises

What a delight it was to see not one, but two kookaburras (large, native Australian kingfishers) having a quick fly and dance in the shrubs of our front yard this morning. They weren't the only birds seen from our driveway. A little earlier today we had a short visit from two beautiful galahs, having a feast on seeds amongst the grass.

I love seeing birds in or near our yard, 

especially as we live in town.

Earlier this week we even had a 

white-faced heron check out our back yard

for a brief minute.

As I was turning to go back inside this morning
after the galahs flew off, something white caught
my eye near our letter box. Could it be....
yes, it was.... a rose in our garden!

We have tried several times to remove some old roses which weren't doing very and replace them with Australian native shrubs. However some of the roses refuse to give up. I cannot remember ever seeing this rose bush flower, even when we were trying to nurture them. I had no idea what it's flower was like. I walk through my garden everyday, camera at the ready, and hadn't even noticed any buds on this rose regrowth. Then this morning I found two perfect, rather small rose flowers!!!! I won't be trying to remove this rose bush again - it can stay as a welcome survivor.

Early Morning Joys

Some of the delights which brought joy to my eyes in today's early morning light, in my own garden.
The blueberries are beginning to set fruit, our first marigold flower (with a dewy centre) and some more joyous poppies.

Taken very early one morning, a couple of years ago......still favourites of mine.

My youngest daughter, now a happy three year old with a head of ringlets, still filling our days and nights with cuddles and snuggles.

Whites and Pinks

One last look at the treasures found in my neighbours' yard. Flowers bloom for a "season" only and some of these have already succumbed to the hot sun and the changes of time since these were taken a few days ago.
