Something Weird

"Mummy there's a weird looking leaf on the frangipani" says one of the children. So I come, with my camera, to inspect. Indeed there is a weird leaf on the frangipani. Haven't seen one like this before - not sure why it's like this, maybe an insect or just one of those funny bits of nature. I think it's quite beautiful in it's own way.

  1. Maybe it is insect eggs. your kids are very observant.

  2. Cool! I think it may be a form of "fasciation", a thing that nature does sometimes that I blogged about here:

There's also a link in my post for a bit more information about fasciation (no "n" missing, by the way ;D)
Lovely, in any case, and I love your capture of it!
    Have a great weekend!

  11. Nature can create strange things. Looks like the leaf hasn't had a chance to stretch. Nicely captured.

  17. I too thought you were growing peas for a moment. Maybe this is one leaf that just needs to stretch its arms toward the sun. I think we need to watch and see what happens!
