All New

Master J (nearly 17) has always wanted to be a pilot. The best next step forward is for him to complete his last two years of schooling in a small local high school with particular attention to Maths and Physics, as well as other required subjects for pilot training. Up to now, we have home schooled all the children. School in Australia entails school uniforms, freshly purchased this afternoon. A rather happy-sad moment.

Earlier this afternoon Master J sat the theory test (with a perfect score) to obtain his car Learner Driver's licence. Only one problem....he can't legally learn to drive in our only family vehicle, a 14 seater mini-bus. There will be a small car joining the family soon, which will be very useful for more than learning to drive.

Sunshine came our way today and yesterday's gerbera bud-to-flower was quick to throw open its beauty for us to enjoy. It's a very bright and happy colour.

  1. I'd give anything to see my kids back in uniforms....:D I miss the crisp white shirts and stiff Khaki shorts and the checked pleated skirt my son and daughter used to wear.
Good luck to Master J in all his endeavors. May he make his parents very proud!!!!

  5. What an exciting time for him! Sad for you, but necessary for his dream. Getting to know you over the last 6 months or so, I can tell with your teaching skills & dedication, you have provided an excellent well-rounded education so far for your children.
I was a Maths/Science student (didn't do Physics though) & when I completed my teaching degree, one of my majors was Maths. I certain couldn't have home-schooled my Ben in Senior Physics and Maths C (it's so much more technical now)... he's studying Engineering.
I hope & pray all goes well and the transition is easy for Master J. And congratulations on his perfect Learners test result!! :)

  6. Thank you Liz, I can tell you understand. It's going to be a good warm up for Uni/pilot training or whatever he chooses. My Strengths were Maths and Bio and think it best he has every opportunity to have a skilled enthusiastic teacher in Physics as well as his other subjects. I think he'll step up the the mark and produce some great work.

  7. Wow! That's HUGE and exciting. I bet he has very mixed feelings at the moment. Firstly congratulations on his learners and second wishing him all the best of luck for school. And while a home is not the same with one missing, he'll be back every afternoon ;-)
