Breakfast Anyone?

With eyes closed I wait for the dawn chorus of multiple bird species to signal morning is breaking. What a beautiful sound it is. The more I listen, the more I hear.

These colourful Rainbow Lorikeets are very common around our town and their sight never ceases to brighten my days. They are rather fond of our flowering Bottle Brush shrub, especially early in the morning.

Do you hear the birds in your neighbourhood singing as dawn arrives?

  2. Lovely solours Karen. We have lots of these cheeky fellows in our garden too, they are so much fun to watch. Recently we have had a pair of blue faced honeyeaters visiting because the grevilleas are full of flowers. Our cats like to sit on the back of the couch near the picture window that overlooks the garden and "talk"to the birdies, but the birdies are quite safe because the cats are never allowed to go outside.

  10. Yes, and I await the songs/calls of our local birds too. In the summer I lie in bed and listen before rising.

But Karen, the LORD did not place me in a part of the world with birds such as are common in your area! I fear I would not get anything done all day from the sheer joy of birdwatching!

Need I say, your photos are expert shots of a beautiful subject.

  11. Hi Karen! Absolutely stunning! I just cannot believe these are real.

And I also love the dawn chorus. I have recorded our birds most mornings for years. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with all the recordings but it is fun. :)

Hope you are well and have a super week.

  21. Oh, what a sight!
And I can only imagine the sound.
All of our birds here have left and flown south for the winter now, except for the few year-rounders.
I miss their sound in the mornings already!
