"Mummy there's a weird looking leaf on the frangipani" says one of the children. So I come, with my camera, to inspect. Indeed there is a weird leaf on the frangipani. Haven't seen one like this before - not sure why it's like this, maybe an insect or just one of those funny bits of nature. I think it's quite beautiful in it's own way.

Maybe it is insect eggs. your kids are very observant.
Cool! I think it may be a form of "fasciation", a thing that nature does sometimes that I blogged about here:
http://notalwayspictureperfect.blogspot.com/2011/06/ive-got-fasciation.html
There's also a link in my post for a bit more information about fasciation (no "n" missing, by the way ;D)
Lovely, in any case, and I love your capture of it!
Have a great weekend!
It is indeed weird but super that you captured it.
Greetings,
Filip
It's very cool. It looks like caterpiller imprints on each side.
That looks both interesting and cute! :-)
love how it looks
those greens look so lush
Vielleicht hat da tatsächlich ein Insekt seine Eier abgelegt.
Zu deiner Frage, die Foto´s habe ich mit der Nikon D80 gemacht. ;-)

What an amazing thing - alien like even!
Nature can create strange things. Looks like the leaf hasn't had a chance to stretch. Nicely captured.
nature hides many oddities! images are beautiful :)
Does look like an egg ! but it is really green !!! cool find ...
and God when He makes us all just a little different He says too... they are all quite beautiful, in their own special way.
Again... lovely photos, lovely thoughts!
Cool shots!

I too thought you were growing peas for a moment. Maybe this is one leaf that just needs to stretch its arms toward the sun. I think we need to watch and see what happens!
How amazing is nature! I have never seen a leaf like that, so interesting, It looks like a type of venus fly trap!!!
Never seen one like it before, it's quite interesting and beautiful! Great capture!
