Refreshing, exhilarating - a walk along the beach early in the morning is a wonderful treat.
This pair of Pied Oystercatchers were enjoying an early morning walk too! Native to Australia they eat bivalve molluscs, not oysters.
The shadows cast by the seaside foam fascinated me.
Looking south towards Burleigh Heads and beyond.
An Australian White Ibis walking along the dune top in front of our holiday house.
A little later in the morning and the numbers of beach walkers are greater in number (including our five younger daughters). The tiny yellow huts which dot the back of the beach are beach patrol towers where life guards watch over swimmers during the busy hours of the day (8am to 5pm).
Master J's at his favourite beach activity - if only he had caught something edible he would have been much happier.
We have been home a few days now but I relish the memories our our beachside time. As much as I loved the sound of the surf, I must admit I also appreciate the peaceful mornings in our country town where many bird calls can be heard. And I can look forward to another beachside holiday....one day.....

Wonderful captures of a beautiful place! I do love the water and beaches!! Looks like a wonderful trip, but yes, it is always good to be back home, too!! Hope you have a great week ahead, Karen!!

You have the best of both worlds, Karen. An idyllic holiday at the beach and returning home to your lovely country town. Aaaah...such bliss!!

karen your photos are just lovely, and everyting is so beautiful! I just came back from a weekend at t he beach for a bird photography class, and also got some good shots of these oystercatchers. Had never seen them before and they must also be seen in the Texas coastal region beacause we saw a bunch of them "catching their morning snack. Glad you are home safely, and what wonderful memories you have created.
These picts look great!

Very beautiful area.
Karen, I've somehow managed to leave a long comment but then delete it, so apologies if you're 'hearing' this again. But if the message wasn't received, my intention before was to praise you for that first photo especially. I'm politely envious of your definite skill to take landscape photos - I need lessons from you....... I was in awe about the juxtapositions within the photo and how you peacefully placed them all in one spot: the highrise buildings, the humans, the birds and the waves - the perspective you've taken this photo from is very clever. Soooooooooo wunderschön, da wäre ich jetzt gerne.

Beautiful holiday memories Karen. I love the beach patrol houses, they're sooo pretty! I've never seen anything like it. On the beach here there are only the removable towers on wheels which aren't much more than a high ladder on wheels really ;)but it gives the patrol people a good overview and they're removable which I guess is important since they're only needed for a few months of the year when people can swim in the water. I think in Australia they're needed more permanently.

Great photos of the Gold Coast Beaches. I think the early morning is the best time on any beach!
Beautiful photos and a great place.
beautiful images and memories for you - and and wonderful leading lines in your first image. Beach or country? a hard decision - both have their own charms.
Have a wonderful week. I am joining you at Our World Tuesday.
Dear Karen,
what wonderful days On Beach, the captures shows it.

you are so talented. the photos are incredible.
Wonderful shots from sea shore. I love it.
What gorgeous beach photos!
I love your first photo so much! The waves are so serene and calm at that particular time with soft and beautiful sound. Mesmerizing too! Beaches always bring beautiful memories but then again, there's no place like home :)
I thought your last shot of Master J is spectacular! Great job Karen!
I would love a beach vacation and feeling the warm sun! I am sure your family enjoyed the beach and the fishing. Wonderful series of photos!
beautiful beach scenes and gorgeous light. :)
Live 20 min. from the beach, but I never get tired of it (also because when it's warm, everyone wants to be there!) - gorgeous captures... and the white ibis -quite regal:)
So thank you that you have laid the path here and I can immerse themselves in a completely different world. Beautiful photos that invite you to dream.

it would've been very 'refreshing' a complete change of scenery, but always, home is where the heart is
Stunning!! I love the Ibis, I only just saw an Ibis for the first time last week, yours is a bit different and really gorgeous as are all the other birds!
Wonderful photos! I especially like the Oyster Catchers.
You make me yearn for summer.
