Evening Roses

A little something to share with you from a recent evening walk - too pretty to sit unseen.

Hope your week is going well!
A beautiful warm afternoon here, our four youngest children are cooling down in our pool as I write this.

Snapshots From Home

A very WARM WELCOME from sunny springtime Australia to all SKY WATCHERS!
The sky photo below was taken from our backyard as the sun was about to disappear behind some wild storm clouds last Sunday afternoon. I was taken by how the big white clouds were billowing up in the bright sunlight, about to be engulfed by the dark thunderstorm clouds swiftly moving their way.

Wind and heavy downpour followed for a good 15 minutes soaking the ground and sending gutters overflowing. There are hundreds of JACARANDA TREES in full bloom in our town right now. You can see the beautiful PURPLE CARPET which was left in the aftermath of the storm in the second last photo HERE.  Have a wonder-filled weekend!

There's always something to capture my interest within our own yard. These have all been taken over the last few days.

Foe, Foe, Foe!

No question about Friend or Foe with these munching machines! I found them feasting on our bottlebrush bush early yesterday morning, their trail of destruction so clearly evident!

Sensational Ordinary

An ordinary Sunday, I nearly didn't make it to church, one of the children had a bothersome headache.
I almost decided to leave my camera at home, after all, we go to church every Sunday. Just another pre church fly....and more weeds and kangaroos....

But there's no other day like today, the gift of "the present".

The weed flowers were fresh and brighter this morning,

The kangaroos were seeking shade early from today's warm spring sun. This particular kangaroo is missing half an ear, maybe from constantly jumping through just barbed wire fences.

A "weed" flower I had never seen/noticed before. When I looked carefully I found it had a three pistils sticking out, not ordinary at all.

Then we went into church for an "ordinary" Sunday, and as our "normal"wise and loving pastor spoke, new pearls of revelation became clear, wonderful discoveries which had been hidden to me all these years, about the Hoy Spirit interceding on our behalf (for us, not just as we pray for others - Romans 8:27). God is so gracious.

Every person is a gift to this world, with talents and abilities to be a blessing and a gift to our community, our family and the world beyond.

Like this tiny frog which I nearly overlooked in the church garden, there are treasures to be discovered everyday. Nothing and no one is ordinary, all is sensational and full of wonder for those who have ears and eyes to "see".

Gentle Tenacity

Yesterday we went to my parents-in-love coastal home on the bay to have time with them and some extended family on holidays from interstate. Last night I realised there was a common theme to most the photos I took - a gentle tenacity to make the most of less-than-ideal circumstances.

Our interstate relatives (keen on fishing and brought their boat) chose to stay a few hours longer so we could have most the day together before they headed towards home. We so appreciated their willingness to adjust their plans.

While the adventurers were off in search of fish and new sights, some of us took a bayside walk. High tide brought the water right up to the base of this very old coral tree, some of it's branches dipping in the salty water. I was amazed that it could even survive in the sand and salt.

Miss E, full of courage and determination, attempting to follow older sisters.

The pelicans make the most of the manmade additions to their environment.

Home again, past the coral trees.

A mangrove seedling trying to make a start, I will check to see if it's still there on our next visit.

This is the one which really stunned me, a gazania growing in the sand on the water's edge. No wonder they manage to survive without any attention in my home garden! The word "Tenacious" stuck with me the rest of the day. I'm sure I can learn a thing or two from these images which took my attention and remain in my mind.
