We had a wonderful family day out today exploring a beautiful section of coastline which lies less than an hour's drive from home - the perfect way to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. We've lived in our town for 16 years and have never visited this particular coastal area. I'm not the only one who wishes to return again - soon!
1, 2 & 3. Kite surfing.
4 & 5. My Sunlit Treasure quilt which has been two years in the making, completed last Sunday.
6. Picnic lunch.
7. Where the lake meets the ocean.
8. Stunning red soil.
9. Looking further south.
10. Adventure Girl having a wonderful time.
11. Master J flying his RC plane (top of photo) and our other children - Miss N with a camera.
12. Miss N turned her camera on me as I was busy taking photos of Adventure Girl.
13. A sunny gazania thriving on the rocky cliff edge.
14. Off exploring again.
* Master J "discovered" this area while on a Duke of Ed. camp with his school last year. You can see some of his photos from the camp here - they include some stunning beach sunrise scenes.
Although it is mid-autumn here, the temperatures are wonderful. Yesterday was about 23C/73F, tomorrow is forecast to be 29C/84F.

Oh, my goodness, Karen. This looks like the best of times. Family, fresh air, stunning beauty.
ReplyDeleteThe landscape reminds me very much of our west California coast. How lucky are you to live just an hour from this.
Your quilt fits right in with the rest of the spectacular images - nice work!
Happy anniversary!
What a beautiful way to spend anniversary...gosh...the quilt. Looks so amazing. Can't believe two years of hard work. I guess all worth it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteWe are able to enjoy kite surfing on our coasts too...it is amazing to behold.
Your quilt...beautiful. That photo of your family holding it doesn't do the details of the quilt justice, but I love this picture, the colors please so.
I love your action shots. I tried to take some shots of surfers a few weeks ago, and it was so tricky to catch the moment. And then a patchwork quilt, you really have something for everyone.
ReplyDeleteWow! Actions shots are fantastic as well as your other shots as well ~ beautiful! ^_^
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous images, Karen!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is divine!! You are so gifted.
That coastline is wonderful... I'd love to know where it is??
Michael and I went on a recent day trip discovering some of the Tweed Coast down to Byron Bay. We plan to return very soon.
We will also be holidaying for 4 days at Cabarita in June (his mum is taking a weeks time share there and asked us to join her for a few days)
