Yesterday we had a wonderful day out in our closest larger city with our Indian friends. A visit to the Botanic Garden was even better than anticipated. I could easily spend a whole day roaming this extensive garden, soaking up the natural surrounds and taking photos. I had never seen a Satin Bowerbird before, an Australian native bird happily living in this garden. There was so much to explore - and ever more pleasant than the noisy, busy nearby shopping centres.....Unfortunately my husband has spent the last two days in bed, unwell, missing out on these great times.
And yes, I snuck in another sunset walk Monday night too.

ReplyDeleteHey Karen! So glad you're having such a wonderful time with your Indian friends. That botanic garden looks really spectacular, a garden that could never be found around here. Australia is such a special place with unique animals and plants. Thanks for sharing. The Bowerbird and its nest are completely new to me and so extraordinary. Who would have thought a bird would decorate its nest in one specific colour and with a doorway as well.
ReplyDeleteOooo, that sunset! Did you see the 'colourful sunset' post I posted last week? Sunsets can be so wonderful. I was so glad to see it. I normally never do since we live too much closed in but on my way home in the evening I could see that the sunset would be spectacular, so I drove home, grabbed my camera and drove on to find a spot where I could have a good view.

I loved reading about your walk through the gardens, and that Satin Bowerbird nest is fascinating... I saw something similar to that on National Geographic... but I can't quite remember what bird it was. Your Indian friends sound so interesting, and I'd love to have tasted that home cooked meal!
