White-Faced Heron on our back fence |
Photographing flowers and scenery you usually have a chance to think about your shot, reposition, adjust and take multiple photos to choose from. Not so with wildlife nor my children! If you don't quickly snap it then (presuming you already have the camera nearby) then you miss it completely.
Here a few "just one chance" photos from the last few days......

Ta-da.....the unveiling of Princess dress-ups |

Princess Miss E posing sweetly |

Australian Green Figbird, above our front yard. |

Pink flowering strawberry, photo taken by Miss E (3 years old)..... |

And promptly eaten by Miss E! |
Not always picture perfect, but rather LIFE as it happens.

Great photos! Your daughter is precious and a budding photographer! Well done,
Kathy
What lovely pictures!
Fantastic shot of the heron! Glad you had the camera nearby.
your daughter makes a wonderful princess, i find taking photographs, of moving subjects very difficult..but i love yours, especially the lizard..
You have captured some very nice 'just one chance' shots. And how true are you comments, I find it hard to get the quick shot always in focus, especially birds.
... very nice pictures ... the little princess is so cute ...

Lovely pics - and such a sweet princess! :-)
Totally love the lizards.
Wonderful photos.Greetings Andrzej.
These are all such great shots.. Your little princess is so adorable. What a sweetheart.. And I just love that second lizard shot.
Hugs, Linda
I could take a million photos and none would be as beautiful as your "one shot" wonders. Even Miss E at 3 takes beautiful photos.
She is the prettiest little princess ever! :)
Nice ones again. Hope you don't have a pond with fish in your garden. By us in Holland the fish is disappeared after such an meeting. You really have to take drastic measures like wire mesh or something to keep the herons out. Not only the normal goldfish but also the koi or the carp is going.
I used to play with skinks a lot when I was little.
They're so abundant in my garden. :)
This is my first time visiting, and WOW. Thank you so much for the comment on my blog. It was a heartbreaking and eye-opening experience. I just hope the images that I did capture will give the family and the twin when she is old enough to realize some comfort. I also was able to gift a quilt to the living sister, it was the one pictured in the photo of the feet, a little something that she can physically hold on to when she needs her sister by her side.
Thank you for sharing your story and now your blog with me.
Ganz, ganz zauberhaft ♥ ♥
What wonderful shots!!! Great capture of the heron, the wood lizard & the blue tongue lizard!!
Looks like little Miss E is going to take after her Mummy - what a great capture of the strawberry!! Eating it is a very deserving reward, I think.:)
Gorgeous Princess dress-up. Did you make it?
beautiful images! la piccolina e bellissima!:)
Great pictures. It is so true that often you only get one chance to get the perfect picture. Love the pink dress.
The princess dress is a Disney one which is reversible, being snow white on the other side. It was a birthday gift for one of Miss E's older sisters a two or three years ago.
Miss E loves taking photos, very quickly. I did crop and edit her strawberry photo a little.
Awesome captures of real life~and you have given Miss E your photography talent gene.
The lizard picture is amazing.
Greetings,
Filip
great shots this week
Such wonderful photographs, and your little one is just precious!
We love coming to see what next you've captured with your camera. Amazing photos! Love your little princess -- she's sweet!

Such wonderful shots! Happy for us that you are quick with your camera!
Lovely, lovely images. I like to see expressions in the images and these are all really good.
Another wonderful selection of images - thanks so much for sharing.
You managed to capture some lovely images there. Your daughter is very pretty and a photographer as well. :)
But they all look perfect!
I take pictures of dogs and kids so I know what you mean. You aim for 3 seconds tops!
Just stopping back for another look, and to say thank you so much for sharing this week at The Creative Exchange.
Have a wonderful day!
lisa.
Fun to see into your life as it's happening :) Miss E is adorable and that wood lizard is pretty cute, too!
These photos are very beautiful. Well done!
Beautiful captures of those precious moments in life! Adorable Miss E is pretty handy with the camera too!
It's always thrilling to capture wildlife! and children! fantastic shots as usual!
Loved seeing your moments captured. Life is meant to savor these moments.
Ok, now, remember when I commented about my hesitant feelings about frogs? Well, my thoughts on lizards of the medium large variety bring along more tense reactions but I'm nothing if not loyal to your blog Karen, so I did look but perhaps not long enough to give feedback. Promise me, PROMISE me, that you'll email me with a forewarning if there's ever going to be any snake captures. Love the excited smile on miss e's face in her princess attire, the one where she has her hands positioned in character is just adorable. And yeah for her strawberry photo!
Nice photos, It can be hard to get those photos of people & animals. You've done a good job- nice ones of your daughter.
Lucky you to have such a lovely princess!
Beautiful photos (and Miss E. did a fabulous job taking that strawberry photo)!
Great shots!
My little man was sitting at our back door today and called out "Mummy look! Crocodile!" I went and looked and it was a little "wood lizard" hehe
Love your shot of this lovely heron on your back porch. You have to really be "ready" to catch a shot like this. Also, please tell little miss E that there is a lady in Texas that thinks that she makes the best princess ever. she is just "too cute" in her lovely pink! Do you do dress up often. That is so much fun and what a chance to grow your imagination.
Beautiful shots! Gotta love a princess!

Nice shots. My daughter would love a dress like that.
Wow - amazing nature shots. So crisp and well captured. Nice job.
Great lizard!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Karen..your daughter is so precious...:)
Great set of captures.
Fantastic photos! Nice color and detail!
From princess to lizard! A shocking transition indeed. Then onto the birds and an enchanted strawberry! All the characters of a wonderful fairy tale... simply charming!
A great series of photos and you'd have to be quick to get any of them.
My white-faced heron never sticks around, let alone conveniently sits on the fence. Love the fig bird, never seen one before.
Just the right age to be a princess . . .
Lovely captured :)
A wonderful post.. Your blog is lovely I have just had a lovely browse again..
I always love coming to you blog. Beautiful captures, each and every one!
Siehst du, die kleine Prinzessin schaut aus wie die Rose aus deinem letzten Post.
Liebe Grüße. Bina
