Sparaxis bulbs. I had never heard of Sparaxis, they came as a bonus pack with my order. I love the details, it looks like they come in their own little net bags.
I have never grown any of these before. The directions said to soak for an hour before planting. I have been amazed at the strange shapes of different bulbs.
All are now settled in their new earthy homes, starting on their miracle journey to new life along with some other companions which didn't require pre-soaking.
I'm hoping for more than seed packets to fill this empty vase. A sampling of each of these were carefully sown yesterday. I'm not sure what the results will be but I surely know that without sowing there will be no reaping - a lesson for all of life.

Dear Karen - I like to try out a few new things each year, sometimes lucky sometimes not. My new plants for this year are some special lilies. They are coming up beautifully but it is the blooms that I am waiting for with anticipation.
Cant wait to see your photographs of the flowers..guess we have to wait a while..., makes me want to do some gardening too..cant expect if we do not sow...so true..

May I give you a hint on growing ranuncular 'bulbs' Karen? I find that not all bulbs in a pack strike, so I start them in a box of potting mix, then plant out the ones that grow. That way you don't have gaps in your plant row. The same thing probably works for anemonies and other bulbs. Oh, and ranunculas and anemones don't do well in the same garden plot - Dave
It is kinda neat that even a tiny Sparaxis bulb has intricate patterning.

Oh you are going to have fun in the garden with all those gems coming up...I will look forward to the photos that will look even better than the photos on the cover of the packets....hmmmm...just had a thought, perhaps you should be the official photographer for the seed company...they would sell waaaaay more seeds with your photos on the packets!
Ah, yes, you are doing your fall planting of bulbs. One of my favorite fall tasks--I just have to wait another 6 months for that time of year, though. :)

I just saw a sign on someone's blog that said "We are so excited it's spring, we wet our plants!" :-) You though of course are being excited it is fall. Love these wonderful flowers. The vase full of flower seed packets was such a cute shot!
