Fun, fun, fun! I've never tried textures, Photoshop or any apps for photos but in recent days I've been accidentally introduced to a great little app for iPhones called Waterlogue through Barb's blog. (My wonderful Hubby gifted me an iPhone for Christmas as he couldn't stand my 10 year old, hand-me-down clamshell any longer.)
The photos above were taken around our backyard this morning - frangipani, zinnia, passionfruit - all look much more artistic in Waterlogue. Below I have included a beautiful zinnia in Waterlogue and also the original iPhone image - doesn't it work wonders!
And one last sunny frangipani from our back steps! I'm looking forward to experimenting with landscapes, portraits and much more. I can see my phone camera will be my camera of choice on many occasions from now on. By the way, Waterlogue has various settings and adjustment (these are all in "Natural") and only costs $2.99.
NB PicMonkey is a free online editing site which has great editing tools and various effects.
I use it to watermark, adjust and resize images, particularly for blogging:

Oh, how fun!! And what terrific captures, Karen!! Isn't it fun to get a new toy!!! I love it! I know you're going to enjoy playing and I look forward to more of your new pics!! Thanks for sharing the fun!!
Karen
Have another blog photo tip for you, remember how I wanted to put a copyright symbol on my watermark? Easy ALT 0169 :-)
Oh Wow!! I feel as if I am looking at a Monet or perhaps a Renoir!! What a magic app. Though, of course, your camera and hence the resulting photos in your talented hands, Karen, are always magic!! What a pity I don't have an Iphone, anything to glam up my woebegone photos!!!!
Lovely photos Karen - I downloaded Waterlogue a few weeks ago too but haven't tried it yet.
You have an iPhone, you have Waterlogued but your are NOT on Instagram! Your photos are always wonderful but as watercolours they glow!
Looks like fun! Although I hardly use my iPhone or iPod for photo taking...mine always seem to come out terribly blurry! Other people seem to be able to get quite decent photos with phones. Maybe it's because the only time I use it is when I know the camera wouldn't be able to take a decent photo in that light anyway :-)
Hope you have a lovely week!

I hope it is such an inspiration that you try a real watercolor one day with so much splendid examples .
This turned out really, really pretty - I may have to try! :-)

Bravo Karen! You are a pro-artist now!! Magnifico! Love the way it turns out on your gorgeous photos :)
I can sense the fun from this end - particularly love your third capture/image. You deserve this delight. Will send email soon, Renee
Efekt jest świetny. Zdjęcia wyglądają jak piękne obrazy. Pozdrawiam.
The effect is great. The pictures look like beautiful painted images. Yours.
Lindas fotos e brincadeiras! bjs, tudo de bom, chica
Looks like a really Aquarell ... Great! I have to try. Got Last Year to Birthday an iPhone :)))
By the Way ... The orange Lampions are not edible, they are "only" eyecandy .
Love this! Such a pity we don't have an iphone(far too expensive), must be fun 'playing' with these textures.

very cool...and kinda (creepy)...but really pretty!!!!
beautiful transformation...:)
The photos are gorgeous!
Isn't this a neat little app????
These are really beautiful, Karen.
Happy day to you!
These are absolutely beautiful and really look like watercolors.

You know? I'm going to be the minority on this.(what else is new? ;-) I do like the watercolor look, and I can see how it'd be fun (I think I may just get the app myself :-) - but you are such a fabulous photographer, I think I like your 'plain' pictures best.
Fun shots! I've seen many examples of Waterlogue on instagram and am tempted to get it. I would love to see a photo of my violin edited in water colors.
Oh, no - Karen - now I have you hooked, too! I like Natural - I also like Travelogue for landscapes. Portraits are a little iffy - I like moving figures or sideways shots best - full-face doesn't always lend itself to the app. It was fun to see your garden watercolored.
så kult effekt !
I absolutely love this app! You & Barb both have done amazing things with it.
I've made up my mind.. I want an iphone!
How very gorgeous! But yikes, do I have to toss my brushes? Yours look like the real thing!
Beautiful! I'm sure it helps to have a great image to begin with.
Your watercolour pics are lovely ~ there's lots of useful apps about for iphones!
This is lovely. I looked for this program on my IPad and downloaded it. I have been having a lot of fun with it. Thanks for sharing :)
Gorgeous! I need to check out this app.
So much fun one can do with the pictures. I dont have I phone so...cant play with my pictures:)
Amazing! Those flowers are just so beautiful and with the app they are just as amazing, but it gives them such a new look! I will definitely have to look into it!
