Summer Whites

The lilly pilly flowers hanging over our fence are adorned with mini raindrops following this afternoon's summer storm. Lilly Pillies are an Australian native which produce tart, edible ,small berries, sometimes refer to as Australian cherries.

Gracie sang even more beautifully - and confidently- at the coffee shop this Saturday morning.

Miss N had her first game in local 1st grade Saturday afternoon cricket. She may be smaller than all the others and the only female but she bowls very well. She took one wicket (nearly more), caught by her brother Master J. She is in the huddle above after dismissing the batter, however she's just hidden from view behind the taller men....

There's something strikingly beautiful and simple about a 'plus' quilt. I've been hankering to make one for a little while and jumped right into it Saturday after finding these blues on special at our local Spotlight store (no, not organic but just right for this job) combined with some white Kona which I had in the cupboard. The binding is nearly complete (and yes I have washed it before attaching the binding - in too much of a hurry to prewash the fabrics). I really, really like this quilt, especially in these fabrics! Do you like 'plus' quilts?

Nice flowers and still cricketing after the terrible
tragedy from the near past but that was very unlucky and seldom. The weather looks marvelous as always as is your quilt. I like it when the design is not so overlaid and crowded with elements and colors. Well done.

Love the green and white of the lilly pilly (and the cricketers too)! The simplicity of the blue and white cross quilt is wonderful too! It's always a delight to visit here!

I like plus quilts as well, simple indeed but with the right fabric and color it can actually make a fabulous impact. Yours is superb!

Those flowers are so sweet! Your girls look to be making the most of their summer! And plus quilts have been rolling closer to the surface of my quilting thoughts lately too :) I really love the blue and white, very simple and clean.

Such pretty blooms and a treat to see since we're almost at winter's doorstep. There is so much beauty in the simplicity of a plus quilt especially with these classic colors.

It's always a pleasure to read your blog, but especially when you talk about summer, and when we have been stuck under heavy fog for three weeks, and everyone is turning green or grey, and it's quite refreshing to know that the sun is especially kind to some people, elsewhere around the world! Enjoy!

Gracie look beautiful and soulful as she's singing. Good for Miss N - she looks intense! I do love that plus pattern, especially in the crisp blue you've chosen.

The blue and white quilt is charming!! and those little flowers!! I even went and looked at your past post about the Fairy Wren -- our wrens are gone for the winter and while they have a lovely song, they are so plain compared to your's!

There is something special about a two-colour quilt in a striking design. It is beautiful. I love the photo of the lilly pilly - such a pretty flower. It's a great feeling when children branch out confidently.

I love plus quilts - yours is beautiful in it's simplicity. I found some of those flowers on one of my walks last summer, thanks for telling me what they are. Have a wonderful weekend.

I hadn't heard of plus quilts but love the one you made! I've given up on the idea of being able and find the time ime to start quilting, even if I'd love to which I would as you know. I haven't even been blogging or following blogs lately. Time to catch up by the end of this year, a hectic year. Lovely to see summer all over your pics. Very much Autumn still here. So wonderful to enjoy the music and singing and the sportive activities of your daughters. Isn't it great as a parent to see your children happy at what they do and go for it. Such joy!
Have a lovely christmas time Karen,
Marian

I had to laugh at your title because we are currently under a blanket of winter whites :)
