Small Pleasures

It is their soft, excited chatterings which first alert me to their presence. I notice a group of about five female Superb Fairy Wrens flittering through our yard at some point most days. These wrens rarely sit still for more than a second. We sometimes call them Jenny wrens. The males are a splendid blue as in this older photo below and here, hence they are also known as Blue Wrens. Irrespective of the colours of their feathers, it is always a delight to see these wrens, and other small birds, enjoying our garden each day.

Great little birds. Not so colorfull but they look a bit the same as what we call the winterking bird in the Netherlands. Amazing.

The blue wrens are so pretty. This year we have indigo buntings (in Northern Michigan, USA) and they are a bright blue but not as blue as your little fellow there! I never have good luck photographing birds, so it is so lovely to see yours!

I do so love the little wrens. We have some in our house yard that give me so much delight to watch. I find them very difficult to photograph because they flit around so much. Love, love, love your photos especially the first one. Would look divine blown up on a canvas!!

Exquisite photos Karen. The wrens and willy wagtails are my favourites.

Karen, I spotted my first blue wren in our garden at Orange just today! We had many of them in our Narromine garden where it is a bit warmer. So it was special to see one here as it was snowing! These little birds make me so happy. X

I love how their little tails stick straight up in the air. :-)
Have a wonderful week ahead, my friend.

That is indeed an incredible blue on the male. Very sweet close ups. That tail sticking straight up is cool.

We have a similar wren called the Carolina Wren; we love to watch this industrious bird. Charlotte just mentioned to me the other day that it was her most favorite bird. Small pleasures, indeed.
Blessings to your day, Karen.

They are beautiful birds and very hard to capture with a camera. You have don so well. We used to have them years ago but not any more. The noisy Miners have chased them off

Such a beautiful bird; I would love to see one. It sounds like they have something in common with our Carolina Wrens, always in motion.
