Hour Glass Quilts

Hour glass quilts had never been high on my list of favourites until I came across a stunning red and white one on Flickr by Christina of The Sometimes Crafter. Although I'm not usually drawn to red, I couldn't stop thinking about Christina's beautiful quilt.

It wasn't too long until I had found some suitable fabric on sale at Fabric Shack and was busy enjoying making one of my own. I completed the quilt above last December in time to give to a dear friend who was visiting. I liked it so much I decided I would make one for our family to keep also.

New Year saw me busily working on the second quilt. This is it, above and below. It is so bright and "happy", I love to glance at it in our lounge room, ready for everyone to use.

This quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I went to order a quilt I had my eye on the other day only to find the shop in solvency! I was gutted because it was exactly what I was looking for. I'd love to try and make one myself as I love to sew too, but have never quilted before and don't want to make a mess of it.

I really like this pattern and the way the red and white come together in an almost soft way!

And, on a side note, I'll trade that young woman's hair for mine any day! :-) Lovely! A perfect model for your quilt!

Lovely! I made hourglass and hearts quilts for both my daughters. The pattern was from Sunflower Fabrics, a shop in Bedford, UK near where my daughter lives. This was sometime ago, I write my own patterns now!
