The Lamp Post and The Flood

As many of you are aware, much of Australia has been affected by floods of varying severity this month. Our local area had its second largest flood in over 50 years, just before I began this blog. Here is a riverside photo taken a few days ago, an "after" shot with the riverbanks being a little more bedraggled and brown than usual.

And here is the same lamp post just after the peak had passed. Thankfully this town was spared inundation as the flood height was about a handspan below the levy wall (less in some places).

I much prefer the river scene in the top photo!

WOW... it's so sad what everyone has had to go through. My heart goes out to everyone touched by the floods. I'll be so glad when this winter is over!

We'll be relieved when this summer wet season has passed, hopefully without any further flooding.

I have similar photos of the Pacific Highway in 1989 cutting off South Grafton from Grafton

This is so sad, I do remember reading and seeing this on the news. I do hope you were not effected by this and suffered damage. Praying this year for your safe keeping when your summer season starts up later this year. I can only imagine the devastation flooding can cause.
