Looking at beautiful photos inspires me and adds delight to my days. I have seen many gorgeous photos of poppy flowers on blogs over the last few months as the northern hemisphere has enjoyed their warmer (sometimes too warm) months.
It's been years since I've seen poppies in real life. I remember being fascinated as a young child by their structure, colours and their speed of opening in my mother's garden. A couple of months ago I was very pleased to find some poppy seedlings at our local plant nursery. The seedlings have done well and are now beginning to grow flower heads atop their wonderful spiky stems. I'm so enjoying watching them develop.

This is stunning! I love the texture of the poppy bud!
I've been waiting for my poppies to come up so that I can paint them. Unfortunately, they must have died out in this heat! Oh well.
Have a great week!
Lovely images. So green and cool... And yes, we've had a totally miserable summer here in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area! I have poppies in my garden and love watching them go through their blooming phases too.
Marvelous macro shots!
I can hardly wait until you show us their blooms. I only see the fake ones that are sold to benefit veterans.
What great shots, I love the prickly bits on the green buds.
I planted some bulbs this year, so I can grow my own flowers instead of buying them. Some have started to grow but yet no buds.
the popy is a great flower. I think you will enjoy it much. :) Great shots of this hairy stage of its development. :)
Such a good point of view. Very novel and arresting.
Sieht das schön aus ♥
Beautiful shots :-)
You've captured some great details in these macros.
You know, I think I love the poppy buds as much as I love the actual flowers. These are truly some beautiful photographs. The detail you have captured is absolutely fantastic!

Fantastic shot, I love it's hairiness.
Thanks for visiting me @ Chasing Rainbows, I think they are Snapdragons.

How beautiful these pictures are. They are all breathtaking. So gentle and so touching. I even want to touch gently this poppy. It seems so close. And colors are so green and so fresh. Very unique and very touching images. Love them very much.

Gorgeous! We don't have this plant here but it is beautiful.
Stunning shots, love those.
How beautiful! I don't think I've ever actually seen them in this stage.
Visiting from Studio JRU's Sneak Peek! Thanks for joining today!
We've had wild poppies on our property...they tend to bloom at the beginning of May...aren't they interesting looking at this point in their life cycle!?!?
Beautiful--I'm so glad you posted this unusual shot of a poppy. I've never seen this early stage of the plant before but I love it just as much as the more colorful and showy blooms.
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog today!
Beautiful now. . .can't wait for them to bloom!
Beautiful captures! The fuzzy little beginning to the gorgeous flower is so sweet! :)
