Watching poppies grow and bloom in my garden for the first time has been a sheer delight for me. Here are the last two for the season. I hope to grow even more next year.

I really had fun snapping away at them.)

That first shot is gorgeous.
Wow, They are drop dead gorgeous...
Crepe paper and that fluffy centre. Are these Iceland poppies, or Shirly poppies? or something different again? They look as delicate as Welsh poppies or the wild red ones we have in the fields.
I'll go to your other poppy posts now.
Beautiful! Shot perfectly too!
Very beautiful setup and execution !
Hannah, these are Iceland poppies, the last flowers from a six-celled punnet of seedlings. I don't think they would survive our summers but have done well through winter.
I really love red poppies. Seeing yours brought me a smile. Thanks!
Such beautiful flowers. Look forward to seeing more of them next year!

I LOVE Poppies, but have tried to grow them! Hmm. . .not sure if they would grow well here in southeastern Virginia, USA ~ need to check that out! These are great photos!
Lovely, lovely poppies. I have sat for hours and actually watched them open and smooth out.

I can certainly see why you enjoyed photographing them so much. They are absolutely delightful!
For two consecutive years, I bought $10 lavender poppy "roots" and planted them...but nothing ever came up! I, too, love poppies, particularly the vibrant color and delicacy of their petals. Beautiful images!

Beautiful shots of the poppies. They are such delicate flowers, I think the petals remind me of crepe paper. I grow several varieties in my own garden.
Gorgeous composition, color, and details.
Thanks for sharing these last two with us, Karen. They are beautiful flowers.
Spectacular--nothing more needs to be said!!!! Mickie :)
I always find red hard to photograph. Red however seems to be no problem for you. These shot are just beautiful. I like poppies and also hope to have more in my garden next year.
Nothing short of splendorous!
Gorgeous photos!! I love the first with it's furry centre.
Sooo lovely :0)
Wonderful! Here in Belgium they are growing again, a bit confused because of the warmth of the season. Most flowers and trees thought for a while spring was there already! But last WE it has started to freeze, so it will be the last ones too. Fortunately, I could photograph one last Sunday: probably the last of 2011 :)
