Hello from sunny Australia again. Couldn't resist snapping these kangaroos up at church this morning. The tall one would be nearly as tall as I am as it stands upright looking at me (I'm a safe distance back, zoomed in).
I just love it's beautiful big eyes. Here we are cropped right in so the definition isn't the best but check out those eyes and lashes!
On to the recently found bugs in our garden now. If you're not a fan of bugs, scroll down over the next few photos with one eye shut ;)
From what I can gather these may all be differing varieties and/or stages of growth of stink/citrus bugs. If anyone can enlighten me that would be great.
The bodies on each of the three above is about 3cm (1 1/2inches) long.
This one is much smaller with a body about 1 1/2cm (under an inch) long.
This is one of the Bronze Orange Bugs which are still living around and on our old cumquat trees.
Ok, enough beastly bugs. Here's a Scotch Thistle (a weed) in flower in the garden. Quite pretty to look at but not to touch!
Last but not least, a couple of little butterflies.
This one is quite tiny and appears as a grey blur while flitting around. I was thrilled to catch it feasting on a daisy yesterday. Quite sweet isn't it.
Hope you all have a wonderful day/evening!
Karen

WOW, gorgeous images and flowers. The kangaroos are cute and cool critters. The stink bugs look similar to the ones I am seeing here. The last shot of the butterfly on the flowers is just awesome. Great captures.

Whoa! Fabulous images as always. Can't stand bugs, but I love macro insect photography. Go figure... Anyway, great shots of the kangaroos. I'd love to have those lashes. :)
Oh, gosh, so amazing to see photos of kangaroos that you just took this morning. she does look very sweet. And that last butterfly photo is so perfect...
wow, that last shot is spectacular.
The roos are adorable. I haven't been to Austrailia. I suspect spotting them is much like our white tail deer.
Love that tiny butterfly on the flower. Perfect focus!!! What an accomplishment to get this. It is also never failing to amaze me to see these lovely kangaroos just "hanging about" Have never lived in a place to see something like this so easy to photograph. They don't really seem to be afraid at all, or mind you doing photos. We have deer around our mountain home, but certainly would not like being photographed. So fascinating! Thanks for sharing
Kangas at church?? how cool is that!!!
I love the sight of butterflies flying around gardens!! They add to the charm of a pretty colorful garden.
Oh, kangaroos - they look so lovely (though I understand that they can kick real hard too)! :-)
Oomph!! How SWEET is that kangaroo?! Awwww... :)
As always, such lovely images you've captred, Karen. Your butterflies are brilliant. :)
Gorgeous captures! I do love the kangaroos and the close-up is terrific! What beautiful eyes! Wow! And your bugs are even pretty! Lovely flowers and the butterfly in the last shot is so delightful! You are so good with the camera! Thank you for sharing the beauty!

Wow...even your BUGS are beautiful! And, that kangaroo photo is like something out of a fairy tale...gorgeous!
Beautiful pictures, you are saying that you are on a safe distance? Are these kangoroes dangerous?
Greetings,
Filip
Such a gorgeous photo series ... a photo is more beautiful than the other, I'm thrilled.
Greetings Karin
I love sitting and watching bugs too, nature never ceases to amaze me with the delicate folk who live beside us.
Hi Filip,
Yes, kangaroos can be dangerous. Usually they will jump away as you come closer but people have been attacked/jumped on and scratched by them in other places. They are wild animals and can be territorial. A large kangaroo can be as tall as 2m/6foot and weigh 95kg/200lb. Their legs are very powerful. Generally not to be feared but treated with respect.
Sometimes they can be very dangerous on our roads too. You don't want to hit something so large while travelling at any speed.
What great shots of those kangaroos. I love those eyelashes. And of course once again your buggy shots look amazing.
Hugs, Linda
Wow! They are all great images.
Especially love your shot of the thistle - so clear and colourful. I'm thinking your next project could be to make a booklet of all your butterfly captures, there's been some really outstanding ones, like your last one here (can't believe how clear you've captured the antennas!) and also of the blue triangle one the other day.
Kangaroos lucky you great shots even the bugs yuck not big on bugs. but they make great photos :)
Wish I could take pics of kangaroos!! Jealous:)
Yes they can be quite intimidating close-up. Trust me. Wonder what happened to it's ear? Poor thing.
Breath-taking photos. How blessed you are, living in a beautiful place. How lucky for us, you capture them well. Thanks for sharing. I love these!
Karen! your story and photos were all great and I love bugs so I didn't have to close my eyes... however that last one simply took my breath away... award winning photo in every way!
Beautiful photos.
Great photos again POC. That kangaroo looks appealing with those eyelashes and face. Good to look at but not to be near I would imagine? - Dave

Hi there - I have just returned from the wild, woolly and less that wonderful world of wireless only internet - so now I'm catching up.
Great pictures – I always like a bit of a backyard safari – it’s amazing what you can find.

WOW Karen! Your blog is always such a joy to visit. You have a great series here. Love the kangaroo and those bugs and butterflies - beautiful. I agree with "Seeing Each Day", you should compile all your butterflies. They are amazing!
Great pictures, love the close up of the kangaroo showing the eyes and eyelashes. I went rather quickly through the bugs and then lingered on the flowers and butterflies at the end which are beautiful. Thank you for sending the sunshine our way.
We see Kangaroos when we drive into church as well and the kids totally love it. I love it as well. Great images. N x
