Rock fishing is quite popular along much of Australia's coastline and I guess with pleasant weather and views like this I can understand why. It is also the most dangerous form of fishing. Can you spot the fishermen in the distance?
A primary safety rule is don't fish alone and I was pleased to see these guys enjoying each others company and also choosing a relatively safe location. The next three photos were taken over a couple of minutes.
A walk around the headland was a beautiful way to end to New Years Day, with Master J enjoying a sunset fly overhead, you can just see his r.c. plane in the top left corner above. I enjoy sorting through our holiday photos and look forward to visiting the seaside again, but you won't catch me rock fishing!

I agree, no rock fishing for me either! Lovely shots of your walk around the rocks-nothing better than a walk at the beach.
Lovely photographs! The fishing does look dangerous, though.
Gorgeous scenery, and yes, that does look like tempting fate with those waves crashing in.
I was curious though whether the fishermen threw the rocks back afterwards, as in 'catch and release'.
;-)
Have a great week !
These pics are great, makes me wanna go fishing! :-)
Love your sense of humour Rick! I didn't check their bags on the way home so I guess we'll never know!
beautiful photos!
Great action shots Karen.
So lovely, but I can see why it's dangerous. You captured the wave action beautifully. Wonderful images!
yes, I don't blame you! A lovely post.
Wow! Beautiful captures and I can see what you mean by danger in rock fishing.
beautiful dance:)....
How meditative to fish in that rocky place!
... danger is usually seen by one who is watching, not by one who is fishing or hiking or going down the snow covered slopes at high speed... :) have a good week!
What a wonderful place to be! It looks so very peaceful, and your photographs here are beautiful.
Thank you for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.
Have a wonderful day!
lisa.
The first photo is so lovely, capturing the peace and the reflections, then you can increasingly see what you are talking about when you say this is a dangerous sport. Hope the fish are very good. Lovely photos~
What amazing photos. That fishing does look pretty dangerous..
Hugs,Linda
What gorgeous photos...such beautiful scenery!
Such a beautiful spot... Larry
It really looks beautiful there.
A gorgeous place, but I think I'll pass on the rock fishing!! Wonderful captures as always! You are surrounded by so much beauty! What a great world you have!

I could see my hubby rock fishing...Great captures!
Impressive scenery and the light is beautiful. Great shots!
Mimo iż uwielbiam morze, nie chciałabym żeby mnie fala wciągnęła do wody.Już to przeżyłam :-(. Podziwiam więc rybaków, że się nie boją. Cudowne zdjęcia . Pozdrawiam.
Although I love the sea, I would not want to get me sucked into wody.Już wave is survived :-(. I admire the fishermen so that they are not afraid. Wonderful pictures. Yours.
Wow, what a beautiful landscape! That does look dangerous!
Wonderfull series Karen. Must be beautiful at the coast.
Lovely pictures, the landscape is marvelous!
Best regards, Marion
So risky and yet adventurous. Amazing shots!
I know some people who go fishing on the rocks but this is a lot more dangerous. Great pictures.
Greetings,
Filip
awesome shots! Darn, it takes courage to fish in Australia! I would be scared witless.
Lovely shots - and you are right rock fishing does look dangerous.
Beautiful pictures; they clearly show how fast the waves can become dangerous. Great series.
Stunning photos! They remind me of my father. He loves fishing along the shore. It's something we've done together since we were kids and though I no longer live in Hawaii, it's something I look forward to every year. Thanks for stirring up those sweet memories. :)

Such beauty near you! That type of fishing does indeed look dangerous. Those waves look aggressive and fierce!

A great series of dramatic and beautiful images.
I won't dare to stand so close to the waves!
The view is awesome...

I had a great time here.
Fabulous shots! I wouldn't go too near the waves either.
Sea fishing is a great sport but with al those waves is than amazing, Sunshine!
Great captures and I loved it... what a views.
Greetings from a wintery Holland,
Anna :-))
I would not adventure myself there, but when you love fishing it's another story..........now your photos are sublime.
Hope you are well, have a great day.
What a beautiful place to go on a grand adventure to. WOW! : ) I love the images you were able to capture. The music playing here is so pretty. Soft and lovely!
Wow..that is rather stunning, but looks incredibly dangerous! I can see why they recommend going in groups!
Great shots! Such a beautiful rocky shoreline!
These are beautiful shots, i also posted socks today. Your rocks seem to be big but with clean surfaces. Is it the rocks or the waves which make rock fishing dangerous?
Wonderful shots! I hope to visit Australia someday....if I can ever get past how long I'd have to be on a plane!
Dangerous, indeed, but also quite beautiful! I hope they're ok! =)
Your shots have such great detail, they are so great, nice job!
Excellent photos.

gorgeous well done!
Bautiful pics! I can see that this could be dangerous. But then, that's what some men like!
What a lovely collection of nature photos and wonderful study in textures.
I can see why it is dangerous. I would think those waves would wash them off the rocks. - Margy
I really like the photos with the fishermen... excellent!
oh wow, i was wondering what the danger was but now i can see! beautiful photos but i'll leave the rock fishing up to the professionals!
just beautiful down by the rocks/ocean
Such wonderful captures you've got, thanks for sharing these beauties!
Here's my first Saturday Sareenity entry, hope you can visit.
PS. I am now your blog's follower.
no rock fishing where i live but we do have people take walks on such rocks and then get hurt or worse get swept away...so yes, this indeed is a very dangerous form of fishing.
i love the 3rd shot and of course the last serene shot :)
and thank you for dropping by and contributing to Saturday Sareenity.
That last shot is simply gorgeous.
What fantastic shots! My brother in-law just moved there for two years. My wife and I are hoping to get there sometime while he's there, that way I can get some great shots. Thanks for these!
