Thank you everyone, your comments are very encouraging.

These are taken with my Lumix fixed lens super zoom camera, handheld (same as all my photos). It's smaller than a DSLR and not too heavy or expensive. I can hold an umbrella in one hand and shoot with the other if necessary. I use iPhoto for editing. Here's a post on my camera if you are interested -

This is wonderful! I carry a spray bottle in my camera bag but often forget about it. In fact, I haven't used it since I got my macro lens. This is on the 'must do' list!

I am in California and found your website by accident - your photography is stunning! I have been really enjoying your posts almost daily. I would love to know... what camera you take these shots with?

Karen @ Pieces of Contentment said...

Hi Honey, I'm pleased you are enjoying my blog and photos. These were taken with my Lumix fixed lens superzoom. You can see it in this post
http://piecesofcontentment.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/my-cameras-and-gear.html

Shortly after this post I bought a Raynox macro conversions lens to let me take even closer macros with my Lumix. The details of it are here
http://piecesofcontentment.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/closer-view.html

In April I bought my first DSLR, a Canon 600D. The Raynox works fine with it too.

I tend to use both my Lumix and Canon 600D each week. The Lumix is lighter and more convenient to take out with me. It also is great for macro. The Canon is bulkier but gives me greater control over settings (which I am still learning) and is better in low light situations.

My Lumix is nearly three years old now. They have released two or three since then, each with good reports. If my Lumix wore out I'd be looking to buy their most recent super zoom (DMC-FZ200) with Leica lens as a replacement - it looks great.

Do you have a blog?

Karen
