Bugs, Boats, Birds and Brown Water

Like the ladybugs, beetles and butterflies, we are drying out and feeling rather relieved to have a rain-free day.
This ladybug is by far the largest kind we have seen in our yard.

All is very sodden underfoot but the river peaked this morning at a "safe" height and is now very slowly receding.
We're trying not to think about the additional rains forecast for the coming week....one thing at a time for now.

This Purple Swamphen was enjoying some additional territory to check out for food sources.

Standing on the levy wall, looking over what is usually grassy riverfront gardens.

Another ladybug coming out of hiding this afternoon. I wonder where they all go when it's raining?

Sharing at SkyWatch Friday.

Fantastic how you've captured the bug. I am greatfull that the rivers overhere are not at such a level. Most of our country is below sealevel and the land is protect by dikes. I think it would be a dissaster. I have learnd a lot about your country thanks for your replay.
Have a (dry) weekend

Amazing details captured in your first image.
Hope the boats are well tied up. The river looks awfully high.

I'm so glad the river has peaked at a safe height... hopefully, the forecast rain will peter out before it reaches you. The North Coast has been in my thoughts...

Jak to dobrze, że przestało padać i oby się nie spełniły prognozy na przyszły tydzień. Przykro patrzeć na zalane miejsca. Biedronki cudowne, one też już chyba miały dość deszczu. Pozdrawiam. *** As it is good that it stopped raining and would not meet the forecast for next week. We look at the flooded site. Ladybugs wonderful, they also probably had enough rain. Yours

Hoping the rains don't bring more flooding your way. Amazing photos, the macros of the lady bug is my fav, you do such wonderful macro work, something I'm always telling you :-)

Sweet ladybird who shows up just for the pleasure of our eyes. I hope it's raining less and that you are still safe home.

Your macro shots of the ladybugs are fantastic. I hope you are up on higher ground and don't have to deal with flooding. "Rain, rain, go away" and don't come another day for a long while! Take care. Mickie ;)

The rain has been quite a stress and the constant grey skies quite mood dampening.
I have been watching the BOM radar and forecast and wondering how much more of an effect it will have on Western QLD, SE QLD and Northern NSW.
Lovely macros Karen. That new lady bug is quite different
