Bridge "Walk"

It's been lovely weather this week for brisk middle-of-the-day walks. One great thing about having footbridges either side of our local bridge is you always have a choice of walking in the sun or the shade.

I love that the children can walk/run ahead and there is no traffic to cause safety concerns......or you can wait and walk with your mummy (when she puts her camera away!)

Grevillea Flower

This may be as much "full bloom" as we will see for this flower as the back segments have already been dropping off before the very front has opened.

These were taken this morning, two weeks since my last update, and exactly four weeks since my first photo of this flower. I hope you have enjoyed watching the opening of one of our amazing Australian natives as much as I have.

Winter Strawberries?

Today we have a lonely strawberry blossom.

Just over a week ago the strawberry plants were lightly frosted. I wonder if we will truly have a winter strawberry.

Unfolding Camellia

I've been patiently watching and waiting for my white camellias to begin flowering. I planted three of these bushes next to the house a few years ago. Each year they grow a little more and delight me with an increasing number of flowers. This is the first bloom for this year and I have been taking photos over the last few days to capture it's unfolding beauty. The photos above were taken last Thursday after returning from my neighbourhood walk. I love the delicate look of the flower, particularly at this early stage.

This was taken Friday. You can see a pink tinge showing through from the inside.

The three above show the camellia on Saturday. The pink looks somehow like a blemish.

The two above are yesterday's (Sunday) photos, after a late shower of rain. I quite like the pink now, more like a feature than a blemish.

This is today's view. Still nice but nearly done. Then I spied......
..... some more papery thin splendour about to begin!

Sunny Sunday

Yesterday's cold drizzle turned into a glorious sunny Sunday, all the more appreciated after a few cold, overcast days. Taken from our back deck as I was eating lunch. We even had rainbow clouds! (Visible to the naked eye)  :)

Both photos are straight out of the camera, no editing -I love them just like this.
