Nature's Sparkler

Returning home yesterday from a late afternoon walk,  I found a full dandelion head in our backyard. Having viewed many lovely dandelion photos online recently, I thought I would see how well my little compact camera might capture this one. It was on dusk, and having the camera on auto, it decided there wasn't enough light from some angles so automatically flashed! I was quite taken with the result. Some photos the flash fired, others it didn't, so I've included one of each. Which do you like best?

Ooh, lovely shots. The second photo is so dainty and natural and whimsical, but I think if I was forced to pick a favorite, it'd be the first. It's so dramatic.

Wow!

That first one looks great. It reminds me of fireworks.
It kind of looks like one.

Thank you all. I like the "happy accident" for a change too.

Wonderful details - I especially like the one where the flash went off!

Both are very good! If I would choose, I choose the flashed one.

Both shots are lovely, but the first is just amazing! It really does remind me of a sparkler.

both! The second one is so fresh and true to how we know them... lots of personality!

The first is so different though! So mysterious and full of mood. Something to stare at and think about. I've never seen it like that before.

Macro Monday hey? Great idea....

I don't usually like flash, but in this case it looks really cool...almost like a light fixture!

These are so pretty! I love dandelion photos! I think I like the second one best, but I'm a sucker for anything with a touch of green.

I just love the first shot. Very cool how it just jumps out of the background.

Late afternoon walks, dandelion heads and macro...how lovely.

By the way i did get your message about emails and I even attempted an email to you via your site. It seems it might have failed...I need to try again. It would be a blessing to get a personal email from you.

I love all of your pictures but these are my favorite. I like how the first one focuses on just the puff and the second one is just great all around. What kind of a camera do you use?

Yes, I said the same thing too, they look like sparklers. I found one on the lawn not long ago that was soaked from the rain, it reminded me of fireworks. I have it on my sidebar I think, you can clink on the picture.

The first one is better, with more details while the dark background does not detract from the subject and at the same time provide better contrast.
