"Nice moon" I thought to myself as I saw it rise. "Wonder if it's full moon tonight". A quick google search revealed that June 4 was not only full moon but that we were about to experience a partial lunar eclipse here in Australia.
Thankfully last night's sky was free of clouds allowing us a great view. Using my "secret recipe" I took photos about every 10 minutes to catch the action from around 8pm to 10:30pm. It was quite amazing to compare the images making it easier to track and appreciate the eclipse.
All images taken hand held, Canon 600D, 55-250mm kit lens, 1/125, f11, ISO 100.
Cropping and identical editing in iPhoto. Collages made using PicMonkey (free).
I really enjoyed taking notice of the night sky, not knowing exactly what to expect. The camera is such a wonderful tool!

You are the queen of progression shots! Wow! What awesome photos. :)
Fabulous photos! We're cloudy and rainy, so can't see the moon at all. Thank you for sharing!

Great shots and good report! The PicMonkey is a good little tool, thank you for sharing all your discoveries :)
I am spell bound by these images Karen - wonderful photos. I am also enjoying PicMonkey since I discovered him last month.
I know I've discussed this topic with you before but truly, National Geographic have no idea what they're missing.
Bellissima sequenza di foto!
un caloroso saluto....ciao
Those are really great shots! I do SO love the moon.
Those captures are fantastic. I heard today that Venus is supposed to pass in front of the sun today (I think today), but it will only be a spec and everyone was warned sternly not to look at it with their naked eye. I won't be looking but it's cool to know. Have a good day.
They look amazing...
Sporo czasu Ci zajęło zrobienie tych wspaniałych zdjęć. Pozdrawiam.
It took a lot of time you do these wonderful pictures. Yours
A wonderful series, very cool.
These are all great shots; especially without using a tripod!

Great series!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Wow!! I don't think I have ever watched a partial eclipse like that!
Captured so beautifully!
Here's my Skyshots.

Wonderful shots!
Incredible and beautiful as usual! I also have downloaded this music for myself...I am so in love with birds and nests this year, and this sort of audio art just appeals to me so!
Blessings!
Stunning moon shots! And thanks for the tip on PicMonkey.
Such truly incredible shots! You did great capturing the moon and its partial eclipse!
Great series of shots, Karen! I too noticed the moon that evening as it rose while we were in the city. I took some shots as we walked to the car and took some of the lunar eclipse - not as many as you did though as we had some of our children over for dinner.
HAND HELD!!!! WOW, you have a steady hand that is for sure!!! Outstanding images you captured. I will have to try again with my 55-250mm to see if I can get some shots with it, but I need my tripod.
AWESOME!
