Isn't she beautiful! This is the sight which greeted me this morning, the first three cornflower blooms.

I've always loved cornflowers but have never grown them myself. In fact I don't remember even having seen a cornflower plant before. Four months ago I planted some Polka Dot Cornflower seeds, a dwarf variety of cornflowers. It's been exciting to watch as the plants grew taller and taller then slowly the buds began to form.

I always cut flowers from the garden and keep them around the home. And in winter I buy them from the florist, cause it's hard to live without any colour...
I love seeing the changes in the flower! Flowers just make me feel so happy. we have just moved and our new garden has beautiful roses and so many different plants and I love bringing a touch of the garden inside. Stunning pictures!
just amazing compositions!!!
I enjoyed a lot!!!
To wspaniale, że u Was jest wiosna, bo będę oglądała kwiaty właśnie teraz kwitnące, gdy u nas jest jesień. Pozdrawiam.
It's great that you are in the spring, because I watched the flowers blooming right now when we are in autumn. Yours.
Oh my, how beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen a cornflower. Perhaps they are called something else here...I don't know. I always love having fresh flowers in my house :)
Gorgeous, I´m in awe! :-)
Hi Tricia, cornflowers are also known as Bachelor Buttons and often come in a beautiful cobalt blue (I have a few of these almost in bloom too).
I love your shot of the bud, nature is perfection!

Beautiful! Your artful way of capturing that beauty is a treat to the eyes.
I've never heard of a cornflower, but it is beautiful. I can understand your delight, esp. since you planted the seeds. Yay you!
Beautiful! I usually leave mine outside, but every once in a while I'll cut some to enjoy indoors. :)

Yes, she is a beauty.
lovely depth of fields and so warming colours...did you know that one can use the cornflower blossoms for herbal teas? I sent some time in a herbal farm this summer and they had different colours of them:-))
Wonderful flowers, wonderful colours. I am greeting
I love cornflowers especially the deep blue ones. I love flowers in the house but tend to buy them as I don't like to take them from the garden.
Real beauties! Gorgeous pictures.

The darker colouring on the inner petals of the pink cornflower certainly make it look unique Karen - Dave
wonderful and stunning pics!
I just answered you on my blog too...bute here one more time the answer:-)
about tea from cornflower petals:you can use only cornflowers too, but its best to mix it with other herbs (like mint or sage) for more aroma; one of my favourite herbal mix of Stilfser Bergkräuter is: mint, mallow, cornflower, calendula,evening primrose; check the homepage of the herbal farm i was for inspiration of other herbal mixtures: http://www.stilfser-bergkraeuter.it;
Thank you Jana, their webpage is wonderful.
These images are absolutely stunning.
If I have a lot of flowers in the garden at the same time, then I cut a few for in the house. Sometimes it's nice to have them inside.
So pretty! Love the focus. Have a great weekend!
Beautiful pictures !
Beautiful captures! Truly lovely colors and composition!
So beautiful! Love those close ups of that perfect package just ready to open.
Oh. My. So pretty - another must for next spring's garden!
What a great pictures
I have always loved cornflowers but never have seen a pink one before.
Maybe I should try to grow them on my deck where there is lots of sunshine.
Beautiful shots by the way!
All the best,
charlotte
Gorgeous....great pictures...sooo pretty...
Love greetings, Karin
These are so amazing. Love them all.. Your macro shots are always so pretty.
Hugs~
Oh, I love that! She is so delicate and ladylike! So very pretty! I do love to have flowers inside too, but it makes me sad to snip them knowing that they won't live long. I really don't have any growing that are "snippable" right now anyway. Snippable? Ha, ha - is that even a word? ;-)
Nice the difference between open and closed.
Greetings,
Filip
Lovely macros... Each image is just beautiful. I especially like the sharp focus on the partially opened bud in the image from 4 days ago and love the soft focus in the last image.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a thoughtful comment on my Ireland image. The property and fields pictured in that image are about a 10 minute walk from the town of Dingle. Amazing to find such beauty near a town.
Stunning! And I never thought of corn flowers are particularly beautiful before. I haven't grown them since I was child. Now I am wanting to try them again.
Really beautiful, indeed!!!
Love

Gorgeous! Cornflowers are lovely in all colors.
I know you've got a beautiful subject here but the composition you've chosen makes it even more so.
Sorry, meant to be more specific as in the composition for the first photo.
You have a lot of comments!
I have never seen cone flowers like this before...beautiful and worth the wait indeed.
