Yesterday's Big Adventure

I saw them in the morning but didn't have time to stop, a family of Australian Wood Duck! Then another opportunity arrived late in the afternoon.

Such a delight to watch, especially considering the location.....

Just a couple of blocks from home!

Close to our large, slow flowing river, we often see ducks during the year, and in spring, the occasional family.

"So I tell you, don't worry about the food or drink you need to live, or about the clothes you need for your body.
Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothes. Look at the birds of the air.
They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them.
And you know that you are worth much more than the birds.
You cannot add any time to your life by worrying about it."
Matthew 6: 25-27

I was inclined to begin to worry FOR them at this point!

...but that's how they live, day after day, somewhere between the river on the streets nearby. I hope there are still 10 ducklings next time I see them.....

Very nice pictures of beautiful birds. I also hope that the family will consist of 10 little ones. But nature is a little indifferent on that matter. Thanks for showing.

And like a good momma, I'm sure you will be counting to make sure they're all there! These are great shots; I love the speckling on the parents' breasts. Such a sweet family.

A sweet family - glad they crossed the road safely! The adults look like they're wearing bibs.

Rena, I had a look at that clip - amazing! Thankfully this duck family were only crossing a relatively quiet suburban street. They must cross streets here frequently to move to and from the river.

I like all these captures, but that one with them posing for a family shot is just a classic - it looks like the parents with smiles for the camera are saying through their teeth, come on everyone, look at Karen, big smiles.

I was worried for them crossing that road but they all kept in line and listened to their Mum. What a great set of photos.

Outstanding! A beautiful family; I especially liked the photo looking as if they were all singing in a choir.

Your verse was fitting and true.

Lovely shots. I too hope they all survive. You must be somewhat north of us as our wood duck are still sitting. I look forward to the busy time of having them on our farm dams.

Those are such beautiful ducks, what a cute family grouping they make. The picture of them all facing the camera is priceless. Thank you.

They are just precious!! I *love* their color! I am so glad they seem to understand 'safely' crossing the road! :)

What precious shots. So glad they crossed the road safely.

What great photos and especially nice to get the whole family like that. Wood Ducks parade along beside the roads around here too. I sometimes think they have a death wish!! But your quote from Matt. is a better explanation!

Tezzie said...

Oh, my...those are adorable! And, such an interesting looking bird. I love the shot where the family is seemingly lined up and 'smiling' at the camera. I'm glad they made it across the street! :)
