Yesterday my thoughts were to share a photo of this Robyn Gordon Grevillea with you, a gorgeous Australian flower from my garden, instead of another zinnia photo. I was using my Lumix superzoom and took off the clip on Raynox macro conversion lens with adaptor ring, holding them in my hand beside the grevillea when I dropped them - onto the pavers beside the pool.
The Raynox quickly sank to the bottom of the pool and the metal adaptor ring bounced onto the grass. I thought all would be ok. On retrieving the Raynox it looked unscathed. After washing and drying it carefully I later went to clip it onto my camera - but it wouldn't attach.
On closer inspection I discovered that one of the little plastic lug pieces near the springs had broken off and was missing. Back to the pool I was relieved to be able to find and scoop it off the pool bottom. But would I be able to glue it back on satisfactorily for it takes a lot of pressure from the springs?
Super glue was carefully applied and I'm delighted to be able to report that it is now back in use!
This is why the Raynox was on my camera - I had just been admiring the colours of this gorgeuos little zinnia flower with it - so you ended up with another zinnia photo after all!
Today we had a pleasure of our pool being used by our church for some baptisms (our pastor and his wife shown here). It was a delight to watch - unlike watching my Raynox going under the water. Water can bring new life and also destruction.
A Raynox beauty from today - and yes, it's another zinnia photo (this one with my DSLR + Raynox and edited differently)......just because I love it!

All gorgeous. Was so glad to see that your lens adapter was ok. Thank goodness it was not your camera that sank there, as that would probably not be such a success story. So you don't really need a dslr to use a macro conversion lense is what I learned out of your macro-lens-falling-into-the-swimming-pool adventure. Good thing you got it fixed! Beautiful macro's Karen!!!! So you use your lense onto a dslr and also on your fixed lense camera. Is there a big difference in photo quality? I'll see if it would be possible to find a macro conversion lense for my camera.

Glad to hear the Raynox is still working :) your last shot is really great and strong in colours. I am just starting to use mine but it's so cold right now (-19°C) I can't stay long laying in the snow before my fingers turn to ice!

oh my, your flower shots are so beautiful! Ugh...that's too bad about your lens. I'm glad you were able to get it back in working order :)
Whew! Glad you were able to receive the broken piece and fix it. The Raynox does not work with a full frame sensor--an outer circle appears on all the photos. :( Loving your zinnia shots. I will be shooting the heck out of mine when they start to bloom. :)

You are right Marian. I bought the macro lens to use with my fixed lens camera before I had even bought a DSLR. I do need to use a metal adaptor ring on my fixed lens so the zoom can still move in and out within the adaptor tube/ring. The adaptor ring/tube screws onto my camera's external barrel which has a screw thread inside the outer end (designed for use with a lens hood in bright sunshine). With my DSLR the Raynox clips directly onto the end of my two kit lenses and also my 50mm lens (but not a large zoom lens I have).
You could try and find out if it will work with your camera by doing a google search using "Raynox DCR-250" and your camera's name together in the search box.
There isn't much difference in image quality between the two cameras, I am very pleased with my Lumix superzoom. However the DSLR gives me more options, greater aperture control and is better in low light etc. I use the Raynox happily with either camera.

No Erin, none of our children this time. We have had baptisms here two or three times before.

Duct tape and super glue, where would we be without it. GOOD to know your lens in fairing up nicely, I am blown away by what you and that lens can do.
We rejoice in reading more have come to know the lord and your pool was used to honor the lord as he request we all be baptized.

At first I thought you'd dropped the camera into the water! How wonderful you were able to salvage things, fix them up and get back in business! That last photo, especially is just wonderful!
I forgot to mention, my Mom was baptized in a swimming pool also. We believe in immersion, but our church generally has a baptismal. Still, I think a pond would the perfect place...that's the venue for my sister and brother's baptisms, in a pond. That was neat! The church my husband and I go to now has a hot tub they use for their baptisms. :-)
