Goodbye Winter

Today is the last day of winter in Australia. Cool mornings and beautiful sunny days will gradually give way to warm nights and hot days. Our white camellias have begun to flower.

The Anemone Poppies continue to entrance me with their blooms.

The grape hyacinths stand delightfully tall.

Another Anemone Poppy greets the daylight.

Winter has been a time of colour and new flowers. Spring will no doubt bring even more of the same. Each season is magnificent, I wouldn't want to miss a single one.

Sharing at I Heart Macro.

U Ciebie się zacznie jutro wiosna, a u nas kończy się lato. Zdjęcia na przywitanie wiosny są piękne. Pozdrawiam i do zobaczenia na blogu za trzy tygodnie, bo jadę na wakacje.
In your spring begins tomorrow, and we end the summer. Photos to welcome spring are beautiful. Cheers and see you on the blog in three weeks, because I'm going on vacation.

I learned English at school. There are two words that I loved to hear me say: bloom and lullaby. I do not know why I liked their sound. These are two words that I want to send you this day ... Thank you for all the kindness offered. Thank you for your great photos.

Your macro shots are out of this world, so beautiful, and one more way to admire the beauty and complexity of nature. May I ask how you get such close, clear shots, especially the outdoor ones?

Karen @ Pieces of Contentment said...

Thank you Rosemary. Each of these shots are taken outside while the plant is still growing. I used my 50mm 1.4 lens on my Canon DSLR with a Raynox macro conversion lens as seen here
http://piecesofcontentment.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/dancing-and-singing.html
I focus manually while only 2-5 inches away from my subject. I can't fit much within the frame but that's ok.

Gorgeous shots! The frost will soon take the last of our flowers.

Stunning flower photos! I love seeing the flowers of Australia - they're incredibly unique and absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing (and lovely, soothing music...).

Rosemary, adding to my comment....

As a follow up to my macro photography comment....I was able to take some wonderful macros with my Lumix superzoom also. The Raynox lens attaches to it as well. I only bought my DSLR in April this year. I find I can get closer with my Lumix + Raynox than with my DSLR+ 50mm+ Raynox but don't have the same amount of control over depth of field.
Here's a good example of macro with my Lumix super zoom (DMC FZ35) by itself before I bought the Raynox.

My children manage to take some great macros with their little pocket cameras too. A matter of experimenting with what you have available.
