The tree which moves some to tears of joy
is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.
...some scarce see nature at all.
But to the eyes of the man of imagination
nature is imagination itself.
William Blake
This magnificent Moreton Bay Fig stands firmly like a sentinel, not on a quiet farm but on a busy corner, as school buses and hundreds of cars pass each day. I have driven past it thousands of times, glancing briefly in admiration.
This week I stopped to take a closer look and appreciate this gentle giant.
Our valley's wide river lies only metres from the tree, over the shadowed crest and down the river bank - the house in the distance is beyond the expanse of water.
One last favourite photo, to let the imagination take you away from traffic and lead you to country fields, hobbits and the possibility of unknown worlds beyond......just imagine....

I wonder how many people pass that tree and do not see its total beauty. Magnificent capture and eye opening post. We all need to stop and just look around more often. I wonder how old that tree is? Beautiful!

Excellent picture, how much power. Could imagine this tree in the city, it would push away concrete and walls like it was nothing.
Greetings,

you can not miss such a beautiful specimen, I would have ever seen such a beautiful tree for yourself :) :) Regards
There is actually some local history attached to that tree, I believe it was here when the first settlers arrived. I think I read something either from the museum or from the library.

Those huge Moreton Bay Fig trees are so amazing! I have often marvelled at the size of them... and taken numerous photos.

It was a tree very much like this in my infants school playground at Alstonville - and we made it into lots of rooms in order to play families. Good times. Thanks for providing such vivid memories.

It goes to show you that we can take for granted those things we see all the time, and not appreciate thier beauty! I like that my camera makes me stop and take that second look!

A fabulous series of a remarkable tree - the roots seem like folds of fabric yet are clearly very deep and solid to support so much weight above ground. Thanks for sharing.
Your ability to capture beauty amazes me. Thank you for stopping to share this with us. It reminds me of Psalm 1:3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water..."
There is a beautiful example of one of these trees in Santa Barbara. I've had the privilege of sitting under on a couple of occasions. Great post!
Captivating abstract shots! Unique, indeed.

WAU - Great pictures you show.
Wishing you a good Sunday :)
Truly an amazing tree and how wonderful of you to pay tribute to it in your pictures. The close up of the roots snaking atop the ground remind me of the heavy fabric train on a royal gown flowing behind the lady as she walks.
That's a beautiful tree Karen, and the roots are magnificent. We have some huge pine trees here in Hamilton which also have large surface growing roots - Dave
