The fabric for the binding (outer edge, the last stage of making a quilt) arrived in the mail yesterday - 24 hours later The Simple Life quilt was finished and ready for snuggling under. Miss E (5) loves her/our new quilt, especially the blocks which she hand stitched around, one on the front and one on the back. It's been wonderful to work on a quick, fun and simple quilt after my two year journey with Sunlit Treasure.
Winter is near, we've used the heater a little the last few days and seek the sunshine to help us warm up during the day. I can see this quilt being well used.
Quilty Details
Dimensions: 41" X 50"
Special Techniques: Fussy cut pieces were raw edge machine stitched in place (no fusing) then most were hand embroidered/stitched in red DMC embroidery floss (Miss E chose to stitch her block for the back in green DMC).
My own design, pieced and straight-line quilted on my 28 year old Janome.

Aqua and red has long been on the top of my list of favourite colour combinations! And this has just reinforced it! I can see this quilt being treasure for a long, long time!
I absolutely LOVE this playful and joyful quilt! It will make cold winter evenings so cosy.
We've been having Autumn weather here: rain, wind, cold,.... with a lot of sneezing, colds, throataches and headaches as a result.
Bye, enjoy your week,
Marian
Utterly beautiful!!!!
It's beautiful! And Miss E is so adorable pointing out the block she stitched!
I'm working on my first quilt. It's a small one, a wall hanging. I'm to the point where I need to hand stitch around the blocks but I don't know how to hand stitch. I'll be checking out you-Tube videos for instructions.
Have a great day. Stay warm!
Such a sweet and pretty quilt. It will add a ray of sunshine to the coldest wintry day. Happy snuggling Miss E!!
Its stunning
Well done you two - something to treasure for years!!

It turned out incredible. The design is lovely, and I love how you mimicked the front on the back! And we cannot forget about the work Miss E did. She should be very proud of her stitching, she will be a professional quilter in no time!
PS. I love the picture of her pointing to the fabric she did and is talking. You can just imagine her saying "I sewed this one"
This is so cute - and just in time for the colder months. I also think you have a new quilter in the making...
Wcale się nie dziwię córce, że kołdra się jej podoba, bo jest cudna. Gratuluję pomysłowości i wykonania. Pozdrawiam cieplutko.
I'm not surprised her daughter that her quilt like it because it is lovely. Congratulations on creativity and execution. I greet warmly.
Wonderful Quilt, too.
Greetings Grit
Very impressive, admire your patience. I love this quilt!

Beautiful and you know it will be treasured!
It's very pretty, but I don't think my opinion matters...It's clear that she LOVES it!
The quilt is stunning- I love the colours and the detail on the back! Miss E must be so proud of her workmanship!
Cute! I love your daughter's happiness about it!
Nice work! And a lovely model you have too.
So happy for Miss E!:)Love the prints too
It's so beautiful Karen! x
This quilt looks great Karen, and nice and cozy too. Well done - Dave
Your quilt is just lovely. So sweet and I really like how you placed your colored blocks. Simple Life is one of my favorite collections. I am making a quilt from Little Red Riding Hood collection right now, it is wonderfully fun.
I just love the way it turned out. I bet you miss E is going to love snuggling under it. I have my Air conditioner on full blast. A sign that summer is almost here. Enjoy your winter my friend.
Hugs~
So young, fresh and bright, perfect for a young girl. She'll remember this quilt forever.
It turned out great!
I love the color choices!
Really gorgeous!
This quilt is so lovely. I have a 5-year old Miss E, also, who loves to hand-stitch. What a great idea to let her have a part in her quilt!
This is really beautiful Karen and how awesome is that miss E has personal touch in it.
What a treasure! Miss E has big shoes to fill.
That's beautiful Karen, so pretty!
Karen, such a beautiful quilt...a treasure to have for generations in your family. Love all the awesome things you share on your blog with beautiful photos, and stories! xo
Wow, it's beautiful! We've also been using our heater in the mornings. Winter is coming!
So cute! Love the colours:))
Thank you Elena. Do you have a blog?
This is so cute. Love the red and aqua!
This is such a sweet quilt...simple and fresh. I love the back too. Next week I am using a quilt my grandmother made at church to kick off the summer sermon series. Your quilt has that same timeless feel.
this is so beautiful and such a sweet memory for miss e to have knowing she hand stitched on it. i love the colors!! :)
This is such a pretty quilt. It really came together fast.
What a lovely quilt! I bet Miss E loves it.
I love, love, love this quilt. So glad I found your blog. I am finding so much inspiration.
Great quilt and I love the back too!!
I love this line. The apples and the little girl are just so cute. They make the perfect girl quilt.
I LOVE the back (and the front too). Great fresh, crisp colours.
This quilt is so, so, sew cute! :)
Such a cute quilt! I love that your daughter helped. I am especially interested in how you got the back squares to line up perfectly with the front squares for your FMQ to line up so wonderfully. I am making a postage stamp quilt and am putting a few rows on the back and was trying to figure out the best way to make it all line up for the diagonal quilting. Your input would sure help! Thanks.
Thank you Cheryl, lovely to hear from you.
Keeping your backing and top square with each other helps a lot. From memory, while preparing my quilt sandwich I think I used some regular pins on my batting to mark where my backing squares were located, then I used those to help when placing the top (then removing the pins of course). The front and back aren’t perfectly aligned but are pretty close.
This may be more difficult for a postage stamp quilt as your squares are likely much smaller and the diagonal stitching is less forgiving. I’m sure it will look great anyway, especially if you can keep your top and back square with each other.
