Hand stitching these calming flowers into little posies of three has been my slow sewing activity over the last couple of weeks. This seems to be the best next step as I steadily work towards a one-day finish on my Fresh Fields quilt.
Today I cut some more fabric hexagons, enjoying having all steps of construction underway at the same time, adding some fabrics which have been released since I began this English Paper Piecing project over two years ago.

I find doing something by hand whether it be knitting or sewing has a calming effect on body and soul. Unfortunately the outcome of my work does not resemble anything like your beautiful pieces.
Your colours are gorgeous! Is this perhaps a very large quilt destined to end up on your own bed?

Thank you Julie. I began this quilt before I was fully aware of organic fabrics, yet I have included some recent organic fabrics which fit the cool colour scheme. There is not the same diverse variety of organic fabrics to choose from (yet).

I enjoy making things by hand too, it is calming and therapeutic for me.

Hexi quilts are so gorgeous, but I don't enjoy the hand work on them. Don't get me wrong, I love to do hand applique' and bindings, but for some reasons I don't love the hexies. Perhaps I am doing it wrong.

Hi dq, there are so many different sewing techniques and crafts, I guess we each find the ones we find most appealing and enjoyable to ourselves. There are several different ways to sew hexies as well as various basting techniques.

Your paperpieced flowers are so pretty Karen, I love the fresh pastel colours. I can imagine this is ideal for sewing on hot days. We didn't have these for a long time now. I can't wait for sunny and warm days to arrive here.
gorgeous!!!! I love how my EPP project (which has remained untouched for quite some time) holds so many memories (over 100 fabrics and at least 90% are scraps) but yours is so peaceful and calming, I may need to consider a narrower color scheme (besides 'every color but purple' ;-) for my next one.
